Bio
Nicholas Salomone is a guitarist, educator, composer, and aspiring producer based in the scenic Hudson Valley, just north of New York City. He is an alumnus of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he studied Western classical music and jazz, a dual foundation that continues to shape his musical approach.
As a guitarist, Nicholas is rooted in the jazz tradition while remaining open to an evolving musical language. His playing is informed by blues, soul, funk, hip-hop, psychedelic rock, ambient, and classical music, with a focus on texture, groove, and musical dialogue. He has performed at venues throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley, including several performances at such iconic venues as Nublu, Rockwood Music Hall, and Fiction Jazz Cafe.
Nicholas performs with several ensembles, including the Chris Martin Collective, a genre-bending Brooklyn-based jazz quartet grounded in original instrumental music, often collaborating with vocalist and rhythmic poet Authentic Intelligence. Within this project, he focuses on the role of rhythm guitar and sound design. He is also a member of the JAJN Quartet, where he performs a variety of jazz repertoire in a more straight-ahead style.
As an educator, Nicholas previously served as a part-time instructor at the Academy of Music at Dutchess Community College, where he led the Community Jazz Combo and taught guitar and bass. He continues to teach students of all ages through private instruction in the Hudson Valley and online, emphasizing joy and mindfulness to cultivate a harmonious relationship with musical practice.
In addition to his work as a performer and educator, Nicholas is an emerging composer and producer. He is currently working on an EP of sample-based sounds layered with live instrumentation, reflecting his curiosity of the Roland SP404MKII as a tool for storytelling and developing musical intuition.
